Mississippi Gulf Coast Food System Assessment

Envisioning a more sustainable food system for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, this study comprises one facet of the Plan for Opportunity to better understand the complicated regional food system that feeds our coast. This food system study focuses on indicators, agricultural and aquaculture resources, distribution infrastructure, food security, the food economy, food waste and climate change. It includes the three coastal Mississippi counties, as well as a study of the 100-mile foodshed, including 33 counties and parishes across Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi which includes more than 2.4 million acres of agricultural land and over 16,000 farms.
