Environment
Protecting our natural environment is directly related to human health and safety. Water is the defining natural resource of our region and an economic engine through tourism, industry and food systems, yet also poses one of our greatest challenges due to the potential for coastal flooding and stormwater runoff impacts to natural waterways. Implementing low-impact development strategies and living shoreline practices provide a host of benefits including vegetative buffers that slow water and fortify our coast, erosion control, and improved water quality.
